This work was developed with BASE UA in the Donbas region of Ukraine, documenting evacuations from the frontline.
Being embedded in the team granted access to spaces and moments normally inaccessible to photographers. The work documents evacuations from the inside: coordination under fire, rapid medical decision-making, movement through damaged terrain, and the constant tension between urgency, safety, and survival.
The photographs were taken while actively engaged in operations, sharing the same risks, limitations, and responsibilities as the medical personnel. The project offers a rare visual testimony of frontline medevac work in eastern Ukraine, focusing on those who carry out evacuations and on the fragile systems that make survival possible under extreme conditions.
